THE DESIGN

THE INSTALLATION

The patented design and installation focuses on two worrisome issues, the roller coaster effect and wear & tear of the structure. Waves caused by wind or vessel generate kinetic energy, and if "it" floats it's going to move. The rise and fall of a floating structure varies from size and energy of the wave. As the wave enters the float zone, the float rises on the crest and falls into the trough over and over again until the wave or waves pass. Problem 1- damage to structure, from broken and cracked welds, loosening of hardware to attached components, bending of connection and racking of the structure. Other components that can be damaged are shoreline hookups and stationaries, loose flotation and decking. Problem 2- the uneven up and down motion can cause motion sickness, stumbling or equalibrium issues, but it is also a safety concern for children.

The Wake Breakers 100% waterproof system uses the energy or force of the wave against itself without causing damage to the structure. As the wave hits the Wake Breaker, two things happen, energy is dispersed and the wave is redirected. Look at it like a cheese grater. If you took a 5 pound block of cheese, pressed it through a cheese grater, it goes in as cheese and comes out as cheese but, the energy of the block of cheese is reduced compared to the shredded cheese. If you don't think so, throw a 5 pound block of cheese at your spouse and see what happens. Similarly, the wave or water is pressed through the system dispersing some of the kinetic energy while at the same time its force redirects down and away from the float zone. The result is a calming of the dock or roller coaster effect.

With stainless steel hardware each system is attached to the structure behind or below the bumper rail.

Each system is custom designed to fit your specific needs. In this case size, shape, orientation does not matter, so if it is a dock, it works, if it is a cabin, it works, if it is a large marina with 600 slips, it works. Our custom design process also works for large inlets and ocean or bay installations. For inlet applications, the Wake Breaker system is attached to a secured/floating structure that is designed and fabricated for the specific need, delivered and installed in 10' to 20' sections. These break walls can be used not only for wave attenuation, but mooring of vessels, boardwalks and egress to areas otherwise not accessible.
